Tourism in the "Grosses Walsertal" valley

The “Grosses Walsertal” has many almost untouched natural resources, which contributed to the  declaration of the valley to a biosphere park of the UNESCO in 2000. This declaration did not only rise the valley’s popularity beyond national frontiers, it also offered opportunities to break new ground with innovative ideas and  to show people the variety of this valley.

Besides agriculture, tourism is the second most important source of income in the “Grosses Walsertal”.  The “Grosses Walsertal” has many ways to offer their guests varied holidays. A nature compatible way of living has been a priority of the local people in the valley long before the declaration of the biosphere park. The award biosphere park pays particular attention to the value of nature and helps to maintain the cultural landscape in long term. And also the friendliness, joie de vivre, sincerity and openness of the local people and the wide range of high-quality regional products makes the valley attractive for tourists.
