On the 10th and 11th January 1954 the white terror broke over the Walser community of Blons. Several avalanches overwhelmed 96 of the 365 inhabitants, 55 people died. 28 houses and 46 outbuildings were destroyed. Three memorial paths – “Leusorg” path, protected-forest path, physical-barriers path – and a small avalanche documentation center in Hüggen and in the community centre of Blons have been set up to remind us of this difficult time.
