Tour description
Achallenging, scenicthree-day hikein the Lechquellengebirge. The route connects two of Vorarlberg’s most famous high-mountain lakes—SpullerseeandFormarinsee—with two historic Alpine Club huts. In addition to long ascents and descents, crossing theGehrengrat ridgein particular requires alpine experience, sure-footedness, and good physical condition.
Stage 1:
Starting fromKlösterle am Arlberg, the trail initially leads uphill along well-maintained hiking trails towardSpullersee. The ascent passes through sections of forest and open alpine meadows, offering sweeping views of the Klostertal valley. Once you reach Spullersee, follow the shoreline before the trail climbs gently tothe Ravensburger Hütte (1,948 m)above. There, you can enjoy a cozy stop for refreshments and an overnight stay with views of the lake and the surrounding mountains.

Stage 2:
The second day forms the alpine heart of the tour. From the Ravensburger Hütte, the trail climbs steadily towardthe Gehrengrat. The traverse follows narrow, sometimes steep paths and requires sure-footedness and a head for heights. Once at the top, sweeping panoramic views of the Lechquellengebirge open up. The subsequent descent leads through high-alpine terrain down toFormarinsee. Directly on the lake lies theFreiburger Hütte (1,918 m), which invites you to spend the night and concludes the day against an impressive mountain backdrop.

Stage 3:
On the final day, you leave Formarinsee and head down into the valley. The descent follows well-marked mountain and forest trails through alpine landscapes and ravines towardDalaas. The trail is varied and offers frequent beautiful views down into the Klostertal valley. The three-day tour ends in Dalaas, from where bus connections are available to the surrounding towns.
