The popular local recreation area above Nüziders and Bludenz shows its artistic side. Eight renowned artists have created their works on a circular trail - each station unique, characterized by individual perspectives on life in the mountains. Sometimes the works are visible from afar, sometimes they catch the eye right by the wayside or blend into nature almost unnoticed.

Alpine Art Muttersberg - Art Trail Summer 2026 Supporting Program

In the summer of 2026, culture enthusiasts can look forward to a wonderful supporting program along the Art Trail.

1. Alpine Art Sounds, August 15, 2026 (alternate date: August 22, 2026)
   A summer day on the Muttersberg where art, music, and nature come together: The stops along the Art Hiking Trail will be transformed into a stage for regional musicians, choirs, and ensembles.
2. Children’s Art Festival on Muttersberg, September 15, 2026
   For one day, the Alpengasthof Muttersberg will be transformed into a colorful creative lab for young artists. 
3. Art Gondola on Muttersberg, starting in fall 2026

In this way, you can experience art again and again - in the changing seasons, in the interplay of light and weather. The Alpine Art Muttersberg combines these special impressions with an easy hike through an impressive landscape. The starting point is the Muttersbergbahn mountain station, from where the signs will show you the way.

The Alpine Art hiking trail on the Muttersberg is getting an artistic addition: two new works will be ceremoniously presented on October 2, 2025 . The works were created as part of an art competition, from which the works "The wolf has returned" by WolfGeorg and "Serpentinata" by Janine Rogen emerged.

The artworks of the Alpine Art hiking trail:

• "Compressed Path" by Maria Anwander
  The artwork "Compressed Path" condenses all the markings of a fictitious hiking trail into a meaningless heap and questions orientation systems and our apparent self-determination in nature.
• "Feiger Hochstand" by Marbod Fritsch (2018)
  A sky-blue high stand in front of a dark conifer.
• "Blickbank" by Monika Grabuschnigg (2018)
  The "Blickbank" blends into the natural landscape as a reduced intervention and creates space for reflection. The edelweiss, a plant originally from Central Asia, appears strange and ambiguous in this context.
• "Sledge" by Liddy Scheffknecht (2018)
  The sculpture shows a sledge at the moment of tilting - detached from time, frozen in motion.
• "Head society" by Alfred Graf (2018)
  People shape the landscape through use, perception and memory - they interweave it with their world of experience.
• "long since disappeared" by Christoph & Markus Getzner (2018)
  A fish with its mouth wide open lies on a concrete plinth, labeled "Blind faith in the inexhaustibility of resources".
• "Serpentinata" by Janine Rogen (2025)
  The "Serpentinata" is a spiral-shaped wall that symbolizes the path inwards.
• "The wolf has returned" by WolfGeorg (2025)
  The wolf has returned to the Alpine region and with it all the fears, stories and legends.
